Notary Public Day - November 7

November 7th is Notary Public Day. This national day of recognition has been happening for more than 35 years. Notaries Public have been a vital part of commerce since the ancient Roman times. In fact, the state of Louisiana has more extensive Notary laws and duties because it was founded by the French. The French legal system is based on Roman law. Other states do not have quite the extensive laws and duties set in place because they follow the more common law of England. Notaries have a very important place in history and will continue to be a vital part of every business today and in the future. It is not just about performing notarial acts, rather, it is about providing an impartial witness to the important document transactions that are required by the government. They help to prevent fraud, verify the identities of the signers and verify the integrity of the document in question. Notaries help to protect the public and the parties in the documents with their due diligence and attention to detail. Be sure to thank your local Notary Public on Thursday, November 7th, 2013.
